Shopping.

At the larger beaches, the boulevards have small, quaint shops. In Willemstad, of course, the float market is a must do. You will also find the well-known brands there, as well as fun trinkets at local shops. Scattered around the island the Aloe Vera Plantation and Serenaā€™s Art Factory, where the special Chichiā€™s are made by local women, are also worth a visit!

Serena’s Art Factory.

Chichi is Papiamento for ā€˜big sisterā€™. The ā€˜big sisterā€™ keeps the family together in a caring way. You may have already seen the colorful female figures on this site. Besides being very beautiful, Chichis also serve a beautiful purpose. After all, they are so colorful and painted by women with a story. Women for whom it is difficult to earn money and/or gain independence in other ways. Highly recommended to visit and shop!

Aloë Vera Plantation.

The use of Aloe Vera is traditionally recommended for skin and health. At the Plantation you buy the products at the source: pure and unadulterated. The store is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and you can also try the various products here. Nice to see how the plants are processed.

Floating Market.

In the water at Handelskade, in front of Willemstadā€™s world-famous inspected facades, are wooden boats of locals selling fresh fish, fruits and vegetables from tents attached to the boats. If you want to buy fish, go nice and early, when the produce is super fresh and well chilled.

Rif Fort.

The old center of Willemstad is divided in two by St. Anna Bay, with Punda on one side and Otrabanda on the other, connected by the Ponton Bridge (pontoon bridge). On the ā€œother sideā€ you will find the Rif Fort. This former fort from 1828 is now a beautifully landscaped shopping area, with nice restaurants and beautiful shops, mostly of European and American designer brands.
